Welcome to my original creation, The Diamond Monsters. The story is filled with exciting adventure, puzzling mysteries, twisted plots and never before seen ideas. Eight brave teenagers embark on a journey with strange creatures, all possessing diamonds that express their powers. Yet, one monster is the keeper of a greater power, and the protector of the Diamond Monster Queen. Darkness has corrupted the realm of the monsters, and the youths must help the creatures destroy their enslaver: a human very much like themselves... The tale of the Diamond Monsters starts NOW! ^_^ (Like with all my stories online, viewers are free to post their comments and follow along. In fact, I encourage that.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- .:Synopsis:. "My name is Solar. I am the leader of the Diamond Monster race. I am a phoenix, engulfed in flames of respect and honor. But I was once not respected. I was was once enslaved.
Currently, life here is peacefully. I am Queen to my race. I was appointed as the leader by 7 Guardian Diamond Monsters. Ever since, I have been the ruler of my race. And I became a much greater ruler after my showdown with the greatest evil a monster can face. A human. A wicked, twisted human.
Long ago, in this dimension, there was once peace like there is now. The Diamond Monsters lived in harmony with each other. Yet, one day, whether it have been by chance or fate, a human boy somehow enterd our realm. He announced himself before me and the Guadians. His name was Van Drike. Finding his small figure to be nothing frightened about, I allowed him to wander through our realm. That was my greatest mistake.
Finding a superior Diamond Monster of all Elements, Van Drike and the creature became friends. Yet, the human and Diamond Monster came back to me to end my reign. The beast the human controlled was actually a Guardian himself. The 8th Guardian, one of superior power. This creature I knew, but he was no longer in his right mind. I was then enslaved. Fortunately, the other 7 Guardians managed to escape.
Soon enough, the 8th Guardian found himself in his original state of mind. He realized he had committed a terrible, terrible act. He left Van Drike, now plotting against the human in order to save me--his leader. The only way to help me was to unleash his full energy again, but under the control of another human. Humans were the answer. The 7 Guardians and himself would have to save me alongside mankind.
The Guardians then forged 8 devices. They were shaped in the form of diamonds themselves, which truly resulted in our race's name. These 8 devices were then casted into Earth, awaiting the palm of 8 Chosen children. The 8th Guardian, fortunately, was so powerful that he was capable of going between the two worlds. And now... The tale of the Diamond Monsters begins...." Chapter #1: The 8 Chosen Ones "Jake... Jake... Jake Weston!" His eyes open slowly to see his mother, Ellen, standing next to his bed. "I'll give you five bucks for five more minutes...", Jake mumbles. Ellen shakes her head, giving him a smile. "No, young man, you have to go to school", she says. "I know you stayed up late doing your homework, but school won't wait on you. So, time to get up!" He pulled his legs in as the covers were thrown off him. "Hey, it's freezing!", Jake cries. "Yes, that's because it's snowing outside", Ellen explains. Jake then grinned. "Snowing? Then...why do I have to go to school?", he asks, his tone almost persuasive. His mother gives him a stern look. "Jake, the snow is not a blizzard. The road is fine, so the way to school is too. Now get up and no more excuses, ya' hear?" Jake sighs. "Yes ma'am..." _ _ _ "Same boring school makes it another boring day...", he says, sighing. 15 year-old Evan Jay Haden slowly walked down an ally on his way to school. Unlike most of the kids at his school, Evan was a lone wolf. He had friends, but he usually kept quiet and wandered through his own thoughts. A glaze was sometimes seen over his eyes as he walked through his life blindly. Sometimes, he felt like he had no purpose. "I wonder if that new guy is coming to school today", Evan then says. A spark of interest in school finally came. A smile then appeared on his face. "What was his name again...? Oh yeah! Jake Weston Blazer." The teenager grinned. Unlike most other teenagers, however, Evan was capable of taking note of almost anything he read, seen or heard. His memory was top-notch. He began a recitement of the bulletin board in the school foyer. "Jake Weston Blazer, 15 years-old, recently moved to this city--New York. Parent is named Ellen Blazer, father has passed away." Evan then made an even wider smile. His ability made him quite proud, and so did the high grades he received because of it. "I hope Jake does come. I could use someone else to talk to. But, judging by his profile on the bulletin board, my best guess is that he'll be a lot like me. Heh, finally!" Suddenly he head something from behind him. Evan immediately turned after hearing a glass-like sound hitting the ground. There, behind him, was a beautiful gem. It was somehow...odd, however. "WOW!", Evan shouts, astonished. The teenager then leaned down to pick it up. As he did, he noticed two lime-green eyes in the shadows of the ally. He froze as he gazed at the eyes. "Uh... Excuse me, I'm sorry. Is this yours?" "Evan....", it whispers strangely. The teenager quickly picked up the gem and backed away. "H-...How did you know my name....?", Evan asks cautiously, a shiver running down his spine. "Evan Jay Haden....", it whispers again. The voice radiated throughout the young man. Feeling his heart beat increase, Evan turned and dashed away. When he looked back at the shadows, however, the eyes were gone.

I'm back to continue. ;]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Aww, man. I can't find my shades", Jake says, sighing afterwards. "How can I go face all those new people at school without my sunglasses?" Jake walks down to the first floor of his house as he threw his dark gray coat on over his deep red shirt. It was fairly warm inside his brick house, but by looking out the window at the snow, he knew it would be freezing outside.
"Jake, are you going to be needing these today?", he hears his mother say. He walked into the kitchen's doorway to see Ellen holding his sunglasses. "Hey, you found my shades! ", Jake shouts happily. "It's a good thing too." As he placed the black shades over his blue iris eyes his mother sighed. Jake immediately picked up on her disappointment. "Um...something wrong?" Ellen nods slowly. "Yes, actually", she answers. "Jake...when you where those, no one sees who you truly are. Don't you want the kids at school to get to know the real you?" He nods. "Yes, but I don't want to be treated as a pushover just because I'm new there", Jake says. "I've been there for two days already, but I'm just not comfortable with everyone yet. I'll get to know someone in time, but-..." He sighs.
Ellen sits down on one of the seats next to the table. "Jake, I know why you're not opening up to anyone yet", she says. Jake turns his head to her, curious to know if she really did. "I know you're not really talkative because of what happened to your father. It wasn't fair for his life to end so quickly, but you've got to try to make new friends. We moved to this new house so those memories would stop haunting us both..." He lowers his head, nodding slowly. "Jake, just try your best to be who you really are. You'll make friends, you'll make enemies - it happens to everyone. You don't have to feel like the outcast because you're new to this school. You're bright, so show them that new kids are just as acceptable as those who aren't."
_ _ _
"Show them that new kids are just as acceptable as those who aren't...? Ok, I'll try...", Jake says lowly as he walks down his front steps into the snow. The sidewalk was slick, but no snow covered it anymore. The day was still young, about 7:30 A.M. The buildings seemed dull, but that's because the sun did not yet shine upon them. Now, Jake just made his way to school.
_ _ _
She sighed as she put a deep, royal blue sweater on. With a light pink head band, she pulled her short raven-black-hair back. The 15-year old young lady then wrapped her white-fuzzy-collared jacket on and straightened her dark, green jeans.
"Cassandra De, get down here!", she then hears. Cassandra's green eyes widened. She now thought she was in trouble with her father. With a bit of worry, she grabbed her boots and then headed for the kitchen.
_ _ _
"Y-...Yes?", she asks. Her father, Aran Kainada, then turned with his wide to their daughter. Sharon then smiled. Her father had a serious look before, but now he was smiling too. "Um...you two ok?" "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CASSANDRA!!", her parents then shout. Her mother and father then threw confetti into the air. Cassandra then smiled. She had totally forgotten it was her Birthday.
"Wow, I had no idea it was already here!", Cassandra exclaims. Sharon then walked over to her quickly, pulling a wide box out from behind her. "Well, it is!", Sharon says. "A mother never forgets her baby's most important day!" She then held out the box. It was a light green color. Cassandra smiled and took her gift. Even the box made her happy since she loved light colors.
"It's...beautiful...", Cassandra says, gazing at her gift. The now 16-year old lifted a new head band from out of the box. It was light blue and it had white dots all over it. It also had a snowflake on the side instead of a flower. "I LOVE IT!" Winter was her favorite time of the year, so this made her extra happy. Her father laughed a bit, smiling. "We knew you would like it, Cassy", Aran says. Cassandra then took off her old one and put the new head band through her hair. "You know what like!", Cassandra says, winking.
Sharon then looked up at the clock. Right before her mother was about to remind her of school, Cassandra did herself. "Oh, bye mom and dad. I have to go now!" Cassandra hugged them and kissed them goodbye. She then headed for the front door to leave. "Have fun, Cassandra!" Sharon calls. "Yes, have a good day at school!", Aran adds. "Tonight, we'll have a party for you!"
_ _ _
Her footsteps were light and proud. She knew she looked great with her new head band. "Oh, I can't wait to show Flora!", Cassandra says, shaking with excitement rather than the cold. Her pink lips curled into a smile as she walked to school. She wanted to Flora to see, but she wanted the guys at school to see as well. "I'll be the gal of school today with this on. Today is gonna rock! I'll get to invite everyone to my Birthday party and have cake tonight. This is so exciting! I love my mom and dad!"
"CASSANDRA!!!", a voice shouts. Cassandra was filled with her thoughts of her party, so she heard nothing. "Cassandra, wait!!" Now she head something. The shout was in fear. Cassandra stopped and turned to see her best friend running up from behind her - Flora Ellen Blossom. "Flora!", Cassandra says.
The 15-year old Flora slowed down and stood next to her. Her body shook, but not from the cold - that much Cassandra could see. Flora's green eyes jumped and her lips trembled. The long, red-haired-girl then took a deep breath. "Flora, what's wrong?" "Cassandra...I just saw-...I just saw a ghost!", Flora cries. Cassandra’s eyes widen. "WHAT?!", Cassandra shouts in disbelief. Flora nods. "It's true!", Flora insists. "Listen, I was walking down Oak Street. Everything was perfectly fine. Then I heard someone call my name. I expected it to be Justin Parker from school, but it wasn't! I turned and I met eyes with a monster or something!" She then began to shake again. "Cassy, help me!!"
Cassandra then covered her mouth. Flora just continued to shake. "Keep your voice down", Cassandra says. "Now, you listen to me, ok? There is no such thing as monsters, ok? Flora, you were seeing thi-" "AND HEARING?", Flora interrupts with a remark. "Cassandra, I know what I saw and it WASN'T human...."
Suddenly they hear two glass-like-sounds. Flora nearly jumped out of her skin. Of course, Cassandra jumped from being startled. The two teenage girls looked ahead to see two gems. One was light blue while the other was green. "What the heck...?", Cassandra asks, gazing at the gems suspiciously. She then peeled Flora off her arm and walked over to the gems slowly. "Be careful, Cassy...", Flora says lowly, worried. Cassandra leaned down to the gems. She went to placed her hand over the green gem. As she did, a force pushed her hand back - like magnets repelling each other. "Odd...", Cassandra says under her breath, making sure she didn't worry Flora more than what she was.
Cassandra then went to pick up the light blue gem. This one almost seemed to lift into her grasp! Cassandra made a confused look. She tried to pick up the green one again. Like before, it wouldn't allow her to. "Definitely odd..." She then heard Flora walk over. "Oh, how pretty...", Flora says, leaning down next to her. She began to reach for the green gem. "Don't try to pick it up, it won't me so it won't let-" She was silenced by Flora picking up the gem with no problem whatsoever. "That's strange...", Flora says.
They then stood up and gazed at the gems again. Cassandra clenched the light blue gem and then stuck it into her jacket's right pocket. "Put it away and come with me", Cassandra says. "We don't want to be late for school..." Flora looked up as Cassandra began to walk away. The 15-year old then quickly followed as she hid the green gem in her pants' pocket.
_ _ _
"EVERYBODY MOVE!!!", a voice shouts. The city crowd all jumped as he dashed by them. His yell sounded like he was police officer after a thief. Of course, that’s not what he was doing. He was just trying to get to school.
"I'm so, so, so, so, so LATE!!", he cries. The 14-year old, a born genius and +A student in high school in all subjects, raced down another long sidewalk. Thankfully no one else was walking down these streets. Brian Don Wolf, one of the best students in school despite his usual late attendance, had to do this EVERYDAY. He had to race by adult crowds, cross busy streets, arrive at school late, do his extra homework and then go back to his apartment. No wonder he seemed overly stressed.
_ _ _
"Ugh...my legs...", Brian groans. The 14-year old stopped running as he walked down Maple Drive to reach school. He lived pretty far away and he had to run to school every morning. The city bus was usually crowded, so he just ignored that insane option. It wouldn't be too long before he set foot in New Park High.
Now that he was walking, he began to feel the cold nip in the air. Brian pulled his black leather jacket around him tightly as he began to get cold. "Hey Brian!", a group of girls call to him from across the street. He shifted his deep, purple eyes to them. They were wearing short, sassy clothing. They did this just to get his attention. The girls weren't even from his school! They were from the New Park Middle School a couple blocks away. He wouldn't attended that school if he weren't so smart.
He sighed, turning his gaze away from them. They kept flirting with him. His cheeks began to turn red from some of their rather personal comments. "Does my body hate me?", Brian remarks. "I mean, it gives out at the WORST place ever. I wish those girls would stop, it's really bugging me..." He just looked down, his black hair hanging over his eyes. "Woe is me..."
Brian Don Wolf........", a voice then whispers eerily. The young man halted for a moment. He thought it might be Justin Parker - a 17-year old bully from school who found it amusing to frighten him. "I'm not falling for it, Justin!", Brian shouts. He then continued to walk. "Brian.....", the voice whispers again. Brian sighs, continuing to ignore the voice. "I know you can hear me, Brian...." The 14-year old was starting to get uncomfortable. Realizing it wasn't Justin's voice, he started to worry. GHARAHAHAGAHAHA!!" Brian then halted completely. His body began to shake. "I see you...HAHAHAHAHA!!!"
"Back off!", Brian snarls, turning around with his fists ready. The young man then widened his eyes. Two lime-green, glowing eyes met his. The figure that stood before him made him freeze completely. Brian gazed in horror. The creature then took hold of his hand, opening his palm. Brian just gazed at the eyes. As he did, the voice kept echoing in his head. A gem was then placed in his palm. A raven black gem. "Farewell...", the voice then says in his mind. The creature then vanished. Brian immediately came back to senses after the eyes' gazer left him. He then dashed to school, adrenaline powering his legs.
_ _ _
"EVAN, FLORA, CASSANDRA!!!", they hear. Flora and Cassandra, whom were both at their lockers, turned to see Brian sprinting into the school foyer. Evan, who was walking to his own locker, turned to him. Right when he did, Brain embraced him in fear. "Brian, what are you doing?!", Evan shouts, trying to peel the boy off him. "Evan, there's someone trying to kill me!", Brian cries. "Don't let him hurt me! PLEASE!!"
Cassandra turned to Flora. Flora gazed at Brian with wide eyes. "Sound a little familiar, Flora?", Cassandra teases. Flora makes an embarrassed look. "Is THAT what I sounded like outside?", Flora asks. "Oh my gosh, that's awful! Everyone in school is going to pick on me if they find out." The two girls close their lockers and then walk over to Brian and Evan.
"What?! Who's trying to you?!", Evan asks, stunned. Cassandra grins, almost laughing. "Brian, did you see a ghost?", she remarks. "YES!!", Brian cries. Cassandra then widens her eyes. "Oh, no, not you too!", Cassandra says, rolling her eyes. Flora then pries Brian off Evan's arm. "Brian, I love you!", Flora says. "If you saw it too, then I'm NOT imagining things!" Brian makes a strange look.
"Um...you don't honestly love me in that way, do you?", Brian asks, scarred by the suggestions the other girls kept mentioning everyday before school. Flora almost laughs. "Are you kidding me?!", she exclaims. "No, of course not. We're best buddies." Flora then hugs him tightly. "Oh, but you DID see a strange person who disappeared, right?" Brian gazes at her and nods slowly. "That's exactly what I saw...", Brian says, trembling from fear still.

La di daa... La di dum... La di da di dum...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 16-year old female makes a deep, deep sigh. "Brian, Flora, do you know how stupid you two are acting?", Cassandra asks. "Listen, like I said before, there is NO such thing as ghosts or any other monsters. Sheesh, what did your parents let you watch when you were kids?" Brian and Flora both turn to her, making offense looks. "Cassandra, if Flora saw it, then I know it's real!", Brian cries. "I may only be 14, but I'm not stupid, ok? I can prove what I saw is real!"
Evan, Brian's best friend, makes wide eyes of shock and interest. "You...can?", Evan asks. The 15-year old then leaned against a wall in the school foyer. Oddly enough, and better off, no one was around. So, thy had their space to chat. "Well, if you can, do it man! Use that brain of yours and prove it to Cassandra and me."
Brian then smirks, his purple eyes gleaming. "The creature I saw gave me this...", Brian announces. He then pulled the black gem out from his pocket. All of them gasped. "Pretty cool, huh? Bet you've never seen something like this!" Cassandra, Evan and Flora then pulled out the gems they had acquired. Brian stared in disbelief. "I-...I don't believe my eyes! You have some two?!"
They all then felt something. Something they hadn't before in their school. Insecurity. "Wh-...What does this mean...?", Flora asks, gazing at her gem. "I'm not sure, Flora...", Brian says. "Wait, let me take look at them all closely. I may be able to come to a conclusion on this..." Brian then attempted to touch Flora's gem. Immediately, Cassandra reached out and took hold of his wrist. "Don't, Brian", Cassandra says. "Believe me, only the gem you have obtained will let you touch it. I've already tried..."
Brian makes a nod. "Then, like in a store, I'll look instead of touch", the genius says playfully. Evan, Cassandra and Flora then watched Brian gaze at the green gem closely. "It's...a diamond?", Brian asks. "Wait, who throws diamonds around randomly? .....Never mind, give me another second...." Evan shifts his gaze to the girls. They were equally confused, but intrigued. "Flora's gem looks exactly like the others. They all look the same. A colored diamond rests within the clutches of another clear diamond...."
Flora makes a confused look. "Um...Brian, I did not understand a single word you just said", she says. Brian then rose to his feet, smiling. "Sorry, Flora, I’ll explain", he says. "A colored diamond is engraved into the bigger, clearer diamond." Flora then smiles, understand now. "Yet...this is very odd. Why are there this many of them - all in different colors?" Cassandra straightens her hair, winking. "And why were we to find them?", she adds. "Was this chance of fate...?" Evan then grins. "I feel something deep and exciting behind all this", Evan says. "I can't wait to figure out what these are for!"
Evan, Cassandra and Brian then smile, holding their gems close together in their palms. Flora then makes a frightened, irritated look. "Stop it, stop it all of you!", Flora shouts. The three give her concerned look. "They are meant for nothing, ok? They are objects. Gems - nothing more and nothing less..." Evan smirks. "What, you afraid or something?", Evan asks. "C'mon, Flora, aren't you curious to know what they do?" Flora's face then turned red, but from anger. "I told you, they do nothing!", Flora shouts.
Flora then walked over and slammed her foot down to the school's tile floor. Her hand that grasped the gem, however, raised and then hanged next to their hands. The three stare at her. Flora was deeply angered because she had become afraid. Yet, what was next was about to frighten her more.
Flora took deep, deep breaths. Finally, she lowered her eyes from them. Yet, when she did, she was now looking at their group of gems that rested in their palms. The gems all had formed smoke-like-numbers inside their colored middles. "Hey, Flora, chill out!", she hears Evan say. "Yeah, Flora, before your head explodes!", Cassandra says. "Believe me, Flora, anger like that is dangerous to your health", Brian says. Take it easy, ok?"
She didn't once remove her eyes from the gems. "Guys...look...", she says lowly. Evan, Brian and Cassandra then looked at their gems. Indeed, what Flora saw was real. They examined the smoke-like-numbers within their gems. "What the heck-...?", Cassandra asks, gazing at the gems. Brian gazed in awe. "So...they do have a purpose?", he says. Evan's eyes sparkled in joy. "Ha! I WAS right!", Evan exclaims. Flora stared in a daze. "No, they aren't supposed to be important...", Flora whispers. "Why-....How can this be...?"
"It's settled then", Brian finally says. "These gems indeed have a purpose, whether they were meant for us or not. But...I'm beginning to think we have some part to play in a whole other place than New York..." The three others pulled their gaze from the gems to Brian. "What are you saying, Brian...?", Evan asks. Brian grins, sliding his fingers through his black hair. "Try guessing, Evan", Brian says. "Is it not obvious? We must have something to do with an...unknown place. A place even I have no idea about. But, these odd numbers say 4, correct? Then...." Brian then laughed a bit. "...there must be 4 more of these left!"
The others widen their eyes. "Wow, incredible, Brian", Flora says. "You honestly think that's true?" Brian smirks. "If it's not, I'll do ALL of your homework for the entire year", Brian says. There's no way I can be wrong. I'm never wrong..."

"I'm SO glad my classes are limited", he says. "I'd hate to have all the subjects - then I'd be late!" Jake trudged through the snow-covered-sidewalk on Fern Street. He only took the classes Math, Science, English, History and Stage. Unlike Brian, Jake decided to take things slow. He had only been to New Park High 2 days, so he was still nervous. He didn't know hardly anyone there.
_ _ _
"I am drifting, drifting Down the river of life I find myself lying, hiding Can I find my way home this time?
Life's troubles, problems They burden me so Yet can I go on? Can I find my way home?
I see my reflection in the waters below My eyes dim, my heart sinks, my skin grows cold What is my purpose? Where do I belong? Can I somehow remain strong?"
Jake sighs after stopping his singing. His song of pain and uncertainty. "Will I ever fit in?", he asks himself out loud, passing a run-down building. "Is my mom right? Will I make friends? I know for sure I'll make enemies..."
"Jake Weston Blazer....", a voice echoes. Jake halted there in the middle of the snowy sidewalk. "Who's there...?", Jake asks. For a long while, he heard nothing. Yet, he suddenly could hear the voice speak again. But...it was singing back!
"Fear, lonesomeness, anger These blind you from seeing yonder Look farther, young man, you shall see The gift of life, the ability to be free
Never give in to hatred of others Stand up for yourself, your future friends, your mother I heard your father passed away Yet, he is always with you day by day
I've known you forever, since the day you were born Dreams brought me visions of you all the more As the days went by, I knew I had to find you all I've come here, for I know that all is not gone
Erase your fears, your loneliness, your anger Soon enough you'll find adventure and danger These events shall bring you, the Chosen of fate I call to you and the others - the legendary 8...."
Jake slowly closed his eyes. This voice was...soothing. "Ow! Dangit!", Jake cries. He quickly rubbed the back of his head. He then looked at his fingers. "Blood?" Jake turned around. He immediately spotted a gem. Another diamond! Apparently, the object's sharp sides hit him in the back of the head. Yet, who threw it?
He slowly picked it up. It had a red center diamond that was engraved into another clear diamond - just like the others were designed. "A diamond? Wow...it's beautiful..." He then heard a bit of shuffling. He began to turn in circles, looking for the person who tossed the diamond at his head. Finally, he got dizzy. Yet, when his eyes focused again, he managed to spot someone sitting on top of the run-down building.
This person looked...odd. Not hideous or repulsive, just oddly different. The person was a male and he didn't look like a regular human. The light that shined over the building actually hid a lot of what the male looked like. All Jake knew was that he was strangely tall, thin and muscular.
"Hello?!", Jake calls. "Excuse me, but did you throw this at me? And...was that you singing?!" The male was sitting down in a strange way. It was as if he were meditating. Yet, with incredible speed, he immediately stood up. Jake definitely knew he wasn't human now. The 15-year old tried not to be scared, but he did in fact think it the person was not from his world.
The being then leaped off the building. The strange male flipped and twirled as he made his way down. And, once he did, he landed perfectly on the ground. The being went into a crouched position as soon as his feet hit the sidewalk. "Jake....", the voice then echoed in his mind. Jake then felt fear radiate through his body. He tried to gaze at the person, but the sun was shining too brightly now. And, once the clouds hid the sun, the being dashed into the run-down building. "Hey, wait!", Jake calls.
The chilled wind seemed to pull him forward to the building. Yet, Jake didn't want to go. He feared the voice. But, he feared the person more. He slowly looked down at the diamond. "What is this...?" Suddenly the thought of school came back to him. With one last glance at the building, Jake turned and raced towards New Park High. He knew he would have to return to the building soon. Something told him that this person he saw was...inhuman and wanting him to follow it.

"How do you do it, Brian?", he asks. The two walked out of their Science, more like Biology though, class along with all the other teenagers. Soon the locker room was flooded with people again. "What do you mean, Evan?", Brian asks. The two stopped in front of their lockers and began to get out their Math books. "Oh, 'c’mon man, don't play dumb with me", Evan says. "You stay up all night studying for these tests, you come in late and you STILL manage a 95 or above. HOW DO YOU DO IT?!"
Brian almost laughed. "I study - just like you said", Brian replies, brushing his black hair back. "I come in late because I live a million miles away, ya' know? I manage 95 or above because I'm a born genius anyways. I'm only 14, but I've somehow passed you! Hahahaha!!" Evan's lips formed a squiggle, his eyes making an irritated look. "Oh, shut up, Brian!', Evan cries. "You're making me look bad!"
Brian stopped his laughter and then gathered his Math books. Evan did as well, remembering his code quite well to the locker's lock. The two then turned to look up at the clock on the school foyer's wall. "YES!", Evan shouts, joyfully. "NOT TIME FOR MATH YET!" Brian sighed. "Awww, man...", Brian grumbles. "Math is my FAVORITE! Can't the clock go any faster?" Evan stopped all his movements. He then turned to Brian, green eyes stunned. "What is wrong with you, man?!", Evan shouts. "For crying out loud, it's S-C-H-O-O-L! It isn't fun for anyone. Why do you like this place so much?! Good grief!!"
"Hey, you might want to calm down, Mr. Hayden", they hear. Cassandra and Flora then walk up after exiting their Math class. They now had to gather their History books. It was only the beginning of this long day.
"You know, I could hear you from across the hall, Evan...". Flora says. "You ok? You sound hyper..." Brian then laughed a bit. "Nah, Evan's just loud!", Brian teases. gain, Evan makes an irritated look. He leaned against his locker, pulling his blonde hair back. His green eyes closed slowly. "Yeah, but you're strange...", Evan says. Brian, Cassandra and Flora just smile. The girls hadn't known the boys very long. Only about a week and now they were great friends.
Flora then slowly pulled out her green diamond. "So...any more theories on these things, Brian?", Flora asks. "You seem to get smarter after doing Science." Brian smirks and then observes the diamond again. "Well, not too many other theories", Brian admits. "One I do know is that these diamonds are actual devices."
Flora made a shocked look. Evan's eyes flew open, stunned. Cassandra went into a daze. Brian grinned. "You three ok?" "Oh, yeah, just fine...", they reply in unison. Cassandra then sighs. "Ok, I know I was shocked too, but it sounded ridiculous", she says. "How are these diamonds devices? That doesn't make sense..." "Oh, it doesn't?", Brian asks.
He then pulled out his own. He gripped the diamond tightly with his gloved fingers. With his fingers wrapped around the diamond, they were pressing into the black-colored-center diamond. The black gem then rapidly snapped open. Evan, Cassandra and Flora all gasped. Inside was a wispy light. "Cool, huh? Yep, figured this out during Science class!"
Evan widens his eyes. "Hey, why didn't you tell me in there?", Evan asks. Brian smirked. "Why?", Brian repeats. "Because we're not allowed to talk during class, hand out notes or use sign language. Besides, you talk too much!" Evan frowns. "Gee, thanks, man...", he says, pouting. "All I wanted was to know more about these diamonds. Next time, tell me!"
"Ugh...excuse me, but did you say diamond...?", a voice asks. All four of them tensed up. Hiding their precious items, they turned to the speaker of the question. It was Jake!

"We don't have anything!", Brian cries. Jake widens his deep, blue eyes a bit. "Oh,...never mind then...", he replies. Jake then turned to head to his locker.
Evan, Brian, Cassandra and Flora gazed at him the entire time as he walked to his locker. The cold from outside left Jake a bit pale though he was fairly tan. The pale skin truly brought out his dirty-blonde-hair and deep blue eyes. And the four couldn't help, but stare at his clothing. A dark gray jacket over a blood-red shirt seemed odd to them. He wore dark gray pants with a bit of flames on the sides of the pant legs also.
"Hey, psst, guys...", Evan whispers, coming between his friends. "That's him - the new guy in school. Jake Weston Blazer..." Cassandra makes a somewhat shocked look. "You know him?", she asks. "Only from the bulletin board...", Evan whispers again. Flora observes Jake carefully as he was opening his code-locked-locker. "Wow,...he's really cute", Flora says lowly, gazing at him. Brian folds his arms. "What an interesting subject", Brian says. "Tall, looks fairly athletic and somewhat...clouded in a shadow. This Jake seems very-..."
The other three turn to Brian. Evan gives him a confused look. "Seems very-....what? Is what?", Evan asks curiously. Cassandra and Flora nod. "Yeah, Brian, what's wrong with Jake?", Cassandra asks. "You act as if he's hiding something", Flora says. They then notice Jake pull out his shades, slipping them on. Brian grins. "He is hiding something, Flora", Brian replies. "He's hiding himself. I can read people like an open book. This Jake Blazer is, above all else, lonely and shy..."
They then spotted a red sparkle from Jake's jacket pocket. Brian immediately picked up on this. "I don't believe it..." "What?!", they ask. Evan, Cassandra and Flora wait from him to continue. Brian's purple eyes locked on the red glow. Indeed, he had spotted exactly what he thought he had seen. "I think we just found another diamond, guys", Brian says. "Jake has one too." Flora's eyes gleam with joy. "S-S-So we can go talk to him?!", she exclaims, her heart forming a crush. Brian nods. "All right!", Evan shouts. "This is awesome. I finally get to meet someone else who's a lot like me!" Cassandra rolls her eyes. "Evan, NO ONE could ever be like you...", she mutters.
Having been insulted again, Evan was the first to walk over. Flora, of course, was right behind him. Excited, but calm, Cassandra and Brian then followed. Evan slipped on through the crowds of other teenagers over to Jake's locker. There, Jake still stood as he closed his locker.
"Hey, new in the city?", he hears. Jake nearly jumped, but turned to Evan stiffly. Evan noticed his nervousness right away. Brian was right again! "Ugh...yeah, I am new to New York...", Jake replies, adjusting his shades. Indeed, Evan realized that the shades was Jake's way of keeping himself from being overly nervous. "Yeah, I thought so", Evan says. "I saw your name up on the bulletin board, Jake. I realize you've been here two days already, but...welcome to New Park High! Fun, isn't it?"
Jake stared at Evan for a moment. Though Evan liked keeping to himself at times, he truly did have an open heart. One moment he'd be silent as a grave and the next he'd be chatting madly. Yes, Evan was hard to predict, but definitely a warm, caring young man. "Fun?", Jake finally asks. "No, school is never fun. At least, not for me..." Evan grins. "You and me have something in common - we both hate the work, huh?", Evan says.
Jake shook his head slowly. Evan immediately widened his eyes. "I'm...wrong?" "I don't like school because no one ever-...forget it...", Jake says. With his Math books, he began to walk away. Yet, Evan instantly walked in front of him and stopped. This made Jake stop too. From behind Jake, Brian, Flora and Cassandra were approaching. "Jake, do mind finishing that sentence?", Evan asks. "Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that you think no one here will talk to you or want to get to know you." "That's correct...", Jake mutters.
"Good morning, new comer!", he then hears. Jake slowly turned to see Brian, Flora and Cassandra. Evan then stood on Jake's right side, getting ready to present his friends. "Ugh...good morning to you, too...", Jake says, feeling uneasy. Evan smiles. "Jake, these are my friends", Evan begins. "On the left, we have Cassandra De Kainada - the Birthday girl! She's 16 now. In the middle is my lifelong pal, Brian Don Wolf - the genius in ANY crowd! He's 14, but his smarts got him bumped up to New Park High. And, finally, on the right, we have Flora Ellen Blossom - the gentle 15 year-old who's as pretty as flower!"
And, indeed, Flora was. Jake gave Cassandra and Brian smile. Yet, looking at Flora, his heart melted. He felt like he was in a dream. Her beauty was wondrous and no other girl in New Park High was as pretty as her. Flora was named perfectly, she did look like a flower! A wonderful, beautiful flower with a scent that stirred his very heart. "I-I'm...pleased to meet you all...", Jake says, pulling his gaze from Flora. If he had not the shades, he wouldn't have been able to.
"Oh!", Evan then exclaims. Jake, Brian, Cassandra and Flora then jumped due to his sudden exclamation. He turned to Jake, hand reached out to him. "I'm Evan Jay Hayden - the 15 year-old chatter in a ghost town" Jake then took his hand and shook it. Though he was nervous still, Jake was willing to trust. "Again, pleased to meet you", Jake says, nervous level slowly lowering.
Brian then stepped up slowly. "Jake, I have a question for you", Brian says. "When you asked us about diamonds, what made you so curious? I mean, was there some influence to bring up that question?" Jake hesitated for a moment. Yet, he decided to trust. "Yes, actually, there was", Jake replies. He then slowly pulled out his diamond he had acquired. The red gem gleamed with unnatural beauty. "I found this today on my way to school. Someone threw it at me and it...hit me in the head. Anyways, I kept it..."
Cassandra then smirks a bit, but playfully. "Any particular reason why you asked US about it though?", she asks, her green eyes dazzling. Jake's body tensed up a bit. Noticing she had made him uncomfortable, Cassandra ended her smirk and smiled instead. This allowed him to calm down a bit. "Well...I just-...Ok, I thought you might have some or know anything about it...", Jake says. "I'm sorry I asked..."
"Don't be!", Flora chimes. Jake felt his knees turn to mush. Her eyes made him go numb. "Listen, Jake, there's something you should know..." Evan nods. "Yep, you DEFINITELY need to know now", Evan says. four then gathered around Jake, making a circle. Together and all at once, they pulled out their diamonds. Jake's eyes widened from behind his shades. "Whoa...", Jake says, hardly able to speak.
"Impressed?", Brian asks, grinning a bit. "Yep, welcome to the club - we've got some too! And...guess what, there's only 3 more to find..." Placing their diamonds next to Jake's, the gems formed a mystical 3 in the middle of them. Jake gazed in wonder. "What have I discovered...?", Jake asks. "I'm confused. What are these?" Evan elbows Brian in the side. "Go ahead, the stage is yours", Evan says. Brian then went stiff. Cassandra and Flora noticed it then. Jake, oddly enough, did as well. "D-Don't...mention stage...", Brian says, shaking.
They all gaze at Brian. "Oh, yeah, sorry...", Evan says. "Anyways, go ahead and tell Jake what you've found out!" Brian then took a deep breath, feeling better now. "Right, of course...", Brian says, brushing his black hair back. "Well, Jake, from what I've guessed, these are devices meant for another world. Otherwise, I think they truly unlock a path to world of adventure. That or they reveal treasure to all whom gathers together with these diamonds. I may be wrong, but I'm sure I'm correct in some way. But, with no doubt in my mind nor heart, I KNOW these come from somewhere else - and not in this world. No one could handcraft this beautifully and make it a device at the same time..." "Device...?", Jake asks, tilting his head. Brian then squeezed his diamond with his hand. The center then rapidly opened. Jake observed the wispy light in the center. "Yep...", Brian replies.
Suddenly the bell rang. The five then made a deep sigh. "Well, school calls...", Cassandra says. Flora nods. "Yeah, we have to head to History class now...", she says, frowning a bit. Evan shrugs. "I knew the break couldn't last long", Evan says. "C'mon Brian, off to Math..." Cassandra and Flora began to walk to their class after waving bye. Brian grins. "Ok, then, to Math we go next", he says. Brian then turned to Jake. "What's your first class, pal?" Jake makes warm smile. In the most oddest way, he just made several friends at once. "Math is my first class", Jake replies. Brian's eyes then gleamed. "Hey, awesome!", Brian says. "Evan, Jake gets to come to Math with us! Now, tell me, is this fate or what?!" Evan nods. "Sure is!", Evan exclaims.
Suddenly, Evan's smile stopped. It turned into...worry? Fear? What was that expression? Jake tilted his head. "What's wrong?", Jake asks. Brian then made the same look. Immediately, Jake felt something hit him in he back of the head. "Ow! What the heck?!" Jake squinted his eyes as he placed his hands on the back of his head. He had already been injured there before, so the skin was tender. "Heh, heh, heh...", a sarcastic laugh then sounded. "Hey, look, it's the new kid..."
